Lexus Soarer Touchscreen EMV TV Removal Procedure

 
The Lexus Soarer EMV Touch Screen is accessed by removing the :

1, Gear knob

2, Gear knob surround

3, Cup holder

4, Centre Console Facia

5, Glove box (optional)

and requires the following tools:

Cross head screwdriver

10mm Socket and long reach bar

Small flat blade screwdriver

The EMV Screen box (A) can be removed from its computer (B) and from the cassette unit (C) for posting (unless stated).

  • Move the gear selector to the middle by pressing the RED button (with the foot on the brake pedal).
  • Push down on the shroud at the base of the gear knob to reveal 2 screws
  • Remove the 2 screws, remove the gear knob.
  • Remove the cup hold in the centre console by holding the lid and gently pulling  upwards (side to side).
  • Open the ash tray lid and grip the upper left portion of the gear lever surround facia - pull upwards until the facia comes free.
  • Remove the connectors to the facia - a small screw driver aids connector removal.

  • Remove 6 screws
  • Gently grip the whole centre console facia and pull toward the rear of the car until it is possible to remove the cigarette lighter socket, and the 2 additional connectors going to the control knobs
  • Remove and place the centre console away from the vehicle to avoid damage
  • Remove the lower glove box facia (below picture) buy pulling downwards - 2 black retainers at the foot of the facia will be visible
  • Remove the 2 screw covers with a fine screwdriver. Remove 2 screws
  • Remove 2 screws at the base of the glove box and remove glove box - A small knife may be needed to break the seal between the wood trim.
  • Remove the glove box and 2 connectors

  • Remove the white connector leading away into the centre console
  • Remove 4 crosshead screws and 2 bolts
  • Push the lower connector block at the EMV base backwards to release it from the frame
  • Pull the EMV forwards to remove all the remain connectors at the BACK of the units
  • Remove the 2 screws holding the air-conditioning buttons to the facia
  • Remove the frames and rear silver computer from the EMV
  • The front screen box is now ready of posting to EMV Repair.COM

Notes on Packaging

Ensure the front screen area is properly protected. The most vulnerable point is the top area vacated by the air conditioning buttons - pack this area well with newspaper. Take care in positioning this part in the box diagonally.

To continue using your vehicle without the EMV in place simply reconnect the 2 control knobs and hazard switch to the main centre facia and reconnect the air conditioning buttons to the connector behind the glove box area.
