Mitsubishi Legnum VR-4 (Galant V6)
The Mitsubishi
Legnum VR-4 is based on the Galant V6 and was built by
Ralliart Japan from 1996 to 2002. This estate variant is
the Japanese ‘Grey Import’ version of the Mitsubishi
Galant VR-4. It is the eighth generation of the Colt
Galant motor car that was first produced for sale
in1969.
The range
topping Legnum VR4 type S (the sportier, higher priced
version of the Type V) is afront engine
four-wheeled-driven car, with a 260+ bhp twin turbo V6
267lbft power plant. Transmission is either 5 speed
manual or 5 speed automatic.
The autobox
version features Mitsubishi’s INVECS (II) transmission
(Intelligent, Innovative Vehicles Electronic Control
System). An ECU (Electronic Control Unit) operated ‘self
learning’ Adaptive Shift Control System that monitors
your driving behaviour to provide response tailored to
your driving criteria. The VR-4 offers its occupants
near-supercar levels of performance and takes many of
its design cues (such as suspension and braking
technology) from the four wheeled drive Lancer EVO, but
still maintains its composure as a high-speed cruiser
due to the (AYC) Active Yaw Control feature, which uses
electronic-controlled rear differential unit that
apportions torque as determined by the AYC ECU and the
wheel speed sensors, making the handling more precise on
the road.
 All
vehicles come with airbags, power steering, Active Yaw
Control, ABS and air-conditioning. Numerous
other
options include sun roof, trim variations such as carbon
fibre or wood dash, leather
or Recaro seats.
The Mitsubishi Multi Communication systems
allows air-conditioning and air vent circulation control
via its in-built touch screens. The touch screen
actually uses a matrix of infra red LEDs (Light emitting
diodes) that sense touch when the light beam is broken.
The
Multi Communication System provides touch-screen control
of the Legnum GPS Satellite Navigation system, Radio,
Television, Cassette, CD Changer
and other hifi features such as Sound quality
adjustments. For use in countries such as UK and
Australian a band expander is the usual route to FM
radio station reception. Radio aerials for the diversity
tuner are located in the rear quarter widows and are
co-located with active antennas amplifiers.

Driveandview.com can provide Radio,
UK Satellite Navigation, Digital Freeview TV, DVD
and Bluetooth Handsfree installations to work
with the existing Hifi and Legnum Screen.
Conversions typically take a
