The most common failures of the Soarer Screen are due to aging components inside the screen or computer. These can cause problems to the back light inverter circuits, touch screen controls and display circuits.

Loss of 'touch' control on the EMV is due to the infra red LED matrix failures or to touch control processor circuits. Typical touch control faults become evident in cold conditions and may be initially start on one area of the screen. Eventually the whole screen will become unusable and if left for too long, can result in the circuit board becoming un-repairable. These faults require more than just component replacements in most cases.

EMV Computer failures can result in loss of display information such as Air-conditioning status or hifi control information. These types of fault are becoming more common and require specialist attention as the computer may be rendered un-usable by the ill-prepared 'repairer'

Grey, flickering (typically when cold) or blacked-out screens are usually cause  by failure of inverter circuits within the main, or backlighting circuits and may require remedial work to ensure future reliability of operation. EMV back-light tube failure is less common, however as Toshiba do not supply these tube parts and hence they are now obsolete, replacement is not a cheap option.
